Gallery for Good

Well, there it is. The first piece of my art accepted into a gallery.

It only cost me $25 to submit it, but every penny counts when you start something new. The budget for Splendy has still not turned any greener, as mentioned in a prior post titled In the Hole.

That said, having art work accepted by Plymouth Art Council, provided me far more than $25 worth of clarity, purpose and direction.

I pulled out an unfinished drawing a few days ago and got to work on it yesterday. If I feel rusty it’s always good to start with something already started.

I smiled when I saw the graphite all over the side of my hand when I finally finished it. Seeing my hand reminded me of times long ago when I had hours to draw uninterrupted (prior to motherhood) and now here I am with that same opportunity.

I am fortunate beyond measure.

Now to find a way to use that skill for good – to minimize mental health stigma and to make not being “fine” totally fine.
