I often wonder if people believe I have spelled my business name wrong? The spelling I chose is not the usual choice…
According to Merriam Webster (and Fancy Nancy‘s Jane O’Conner and Robin Preiss Glasser), the word splendiferous is spelled with an ‘e’ and means extraordinarily or showily impressive.
This definition is, of course, not why I chose the word as a part of my business name.
Similar to other words, such as ginormous (giant + enormous), the Urban Dictionary recognizes splendiforous as a compilation of three words….splendid + for + us.
Splendid + For + Us
One thousand times, yes.
Splendid + for + us + life rings true to normalizing mental health through accessible conversations and channels of kindness.
On a side note, and using a Jewish lens, there are a myriad of spellings for Hebrew words, which leave many of our non-Jewish friends bewildered. For example, Hanukkah or Chanukah and so on, are transliterations of Hebrew words, resulting in varied approaches to spelling.
Experiences with transliteration may be why I feel I can go in any direction. Or, maybe it’s the rebel in me.
Could it hurt my google search results? Possibly. Have I done anything about that yet? Nope.
Might people email me at the wrong address? Likely.
Hooray for QR codes, I suppose!
Also, for the record, Jerry Frank has a jazz song and Dutch boy has a paint color DC059… both spelled as Splendi-for-us.
Stay real,
Janessa
